Programs

The Portland Area Council’s four unique programs serve a diverse population.

After School
Programs occur on school premises, at another community location, or in homes. The Success program supports positive youth development that combines experiential learning with homework support, academic enrichment, and service to the community Youth interested in community service learning projects will want to be a part of YIN of Oregon.

In School
Camp Fire enhances what the schools offer in the classroom, or in facilities provided by the schools. Referrals are made by counselors or teachers into the mentoring program in the Mentoring Partnership. Four days a week, Success program staff supports the needs of twenty school-identified middle or high school youth. Service learning projects are the focus of YIN of Oregon. Youth identify a community issue and create a project to change and improve that issue.

Resident Camp
Seven weeks each summer, youth enjoy the great outdoors at Camp Namanu. There are two-day/one-night camps for fist time campers, and one week camps for 2nd – 12th graders. As youth return year after year, the program structure allows new opportunities for growth. Activities and programs are designed to be fun and provide new leadership and learning experiences. While living and participating in groups, campers learn the value of communication and teamwork.

Summer Day
Similar to a day camp; youth come at 9 a.m., bring a sack lunch and go home at 3 p.m. Programs are offered by Success and YIN of Oregon.
